Random things about my kids that I don't want to forget, so I'm going to write it down here. #5

THE CARROT CODE

We had gotten a new home teacher. We were chatting. He started asking the kids questions to get to know them better. He started talking to Larkin. Larkin was snacking on a carrot stick. The conversation went a little like this.

Home Teacher: Let's see, Larkin, you are 8. Are you enjoying being in Activity Days?

A little silence and then ...

Larkin: (This was said with an unemotional, kind of bored voice. Remember she is snacking on a carrot stick.) If I bite once it means no. Two times means yes.

Then she made a distinct CRUNCH CRUNCH!

She gave us all a good laugh. Our Home Teacher said he kept laughing about it to himself the next day at work. Then people would ask him what was so funny. It's not really something you can explain to someone.

I'm glad she likes Activity Days.

My boys

Larkin was (im)patiently waiting for me to help her with her hair this morning. She asked:

Larkin: Where were you?

Me: Lilly was showing me her homework that I needed to sign.

Larkin: Oh. Dad said you were fighting Germans.

Then on the way to school we were a little late. Our trip is usually quick without meeting many other cars till we get close to the school. Today we had to wait for cars everywhere which made us a lot slower. Something you don't want when you're late. I asked:

Me: What's with all the traffic today?

Then Oscar answered: Maybe they're going to a fight.

I wonder where he gets it from.
