Ever had a dream come true?

I've had a few things happen to me that I wanted for a long time. Lilly and I got to go and stay a week in Texas with my sister Paige. I've had awful, unreliable cars that I finally got to replace with a new to me, good one. I'm a simple girl. I don't really dream very big. My husband is lucky. Little things like doing the dishes, getting the oil changed, or making sure the tires get rotated make me really happy. The fact that I don't even have to think about when to change the filter for our AC is really fabulous to me.

Anyway, I've gotten off the subject. Have you ever had a really wild dream come true? Like reach for the stars, what's the best thing you can think of kind of dream? Have you ever witnessed someone have a dream come true? I mean someone you know not just the people on Oprah.(back about 10 years ago when her show was good.) Let me tell you that is just as much fun. Seeing someone in your family get to do something that they had dreamed of but never thought could really happen.

Last night Jim, Miranda, Blake and I got to go watch Blake's brother Chris and his band play. They are really good. Thousand Yard Stare This is where the dream come true part comes in. They were opening for Rob Dickinson. I imagine that only a select few of my blog followers know who that is. He was the lead singer for Catherine Wheel. Still lost? I'll admit that the only reason I know who he is is because of all the boys in my life. My husband, brothers-in-law, brother and nephew are all very sophisticated and hip when it comes to music. I listen to whatever they tell me to listen to. They haven't steered me wrong yet. I was young and hip once myself. At one time I was the one on the cutting edge of what was cool. No more. I'm OK with it. There I go getting off the subject again.

Christopher(I know that's not the most flattering picture, but as I searched my pictures for a good one to show I realized that there isn't one that he isn't making a silly face in. Boys.) has always been a really big fan. Catherine Wheel has been one of his favorites from the moment he heard them. (He still remembers when he first heard them. Ask him. He'll tell you the story.) Can you imagine? Being in a band and good at and interested in everything music and they say to you, "You get to open up for the lead singer of one of your most favorite bands of all time." He was so excited about it. So that's it. Wow! Dream fulfilled right? I'm not done. Chris knows the owner of the place where they were playing. Long story short, he got to be the one to pick up Rob Dickinson from the airport. Amazing, one on one time with one of your idles. Even bigger dream fulfilled right? Still not done. We're listening to Rob Dickinson play. He really was incredible. He's almost done with his set and he says, (be sure to say this with an English accent) "Where's my friend Chris? Do you have an instrument available to you? Do you want to come up and play Black Metallic(their first hit in the U.S.) with me?" It was so exciting and so much fun and we were so proud. It couldn't have happened to a better person. Chris is a great brother and uncle. My kids adore him. It was really fun watching one of his dreams come true.

You can watch it here.

Here are some of my favorite Catherine Wheel songs if you're interested.
