I all done.
Oscar just woke up. He's just in his under ware. When Daddy puts you to bed you just don't bother with jammies.
Oscar: Mom, I'm so very cold.
Me: I'll get you some clothes. Just a second.
Oscar: Can I have some cereal?
Me: Sure, what kind do you want?
Oscar: plaw plates (frosted flakes)
Me: OK, I'll go get your clothes and then we'll fix you your cereal.
As I'm leaving the kitchen:
Oscar: I want to watch a movie.
Me: You have to read your scriptures first.
Oscar: OK
I came back to the kitchen and saw this:

and I heard this: Behold ... the Nephites ... applesauce, Mom, I all done.

Why Cream
Oscar: Mom! I'm so very hungry. (in a yelling, mad, I can't take it anymore kind of way)
Me: You are? (in a my poor baby, because I know that he's just tired, kind of way)
Oscar: Uhu. (very pitiful like)
Me: Do you want a banana? (trying to be cheerful)
Oscar: no (still very pitiful)
Me: Do you want a peanut butter sandwich?
Oscar: No
(I can see now that he realizes that I am trying to make him happy and that maybe he can get something good out of the situation, but he still needs to appear that he is suffering.)
Oscar: (He's poring it on pretty thick now.) Peanut Butter is so very yucky. I think I need some why cream. (that means ice cream)
I told him I'll be right back. I left to come and type this so that I wouldn't forget.
I can hear him in the other room. "We will. We will, rock you!"
He got his ice cream.

So What! I Don't care!
I know you all did your Halloween posts months ago. (You were on top of things and your kids were just adorable. Really! I love seeing what everyone dresses up as. The classic princesses, the clever costumes that make you laugh, they were all great!)
I know what month it is. I know January is almost over. I know most of you did your Halloween posts. Then moved on to a Thanksgiving post, complete with lists of things that you are truly thankful for. I know you've already showed us how beautiful your Christmases were. I know you topped it all off with a little spiritual thought about the true reason for the season. Shared good ideas on how you taught your children about service and having the spirit of Christ in our lives. I know you did it and I loved reading about it.
I know some people think that it is a little too late to be posting Halloween pictures. I say, SO WHAT?! I DON'T CARE!
Aren't they spooky?

Ever had a dream come true?
I've had a few things happen to me that I wanted for a long time. Lilly and I got to go and stay a week in Texas with my sister Paige. I've had awful, unreliable cars that I finally got to replace with a new to me, good one. I'm a simple girl. I don't really dream very big. My husband is lucky. Little things like doing the dishes, getting the oil changed, or making sure the tires get rotated make me really happy. The fact that I don't even have to think about when to change the filter for our AC is really fabulous to me.
Anyway, I've gotten off the subject. Have you ever had a really wild dream come true? Like reach for the stars, what's the best thing you can think of kind of dream? Have you ever witnessed someone have a dream come true? I mean someone you know not just the people on Oprah.(back about 10 years ago when her show was good.) Let me tell you that is just as much fun. Seeing someone in your family get to do something that they had dreamed of but never thought could really happen.
Last night Jim, Miranda, Blake and I got to go watch Blake's brother Chris and his band play. They are really good. Thousand Yard Stare This is where the dream come true part comes in. They were opening for Rob Dickinson. I imagine that only a select few of my blog followers know who that is. He was the lead singer for Catherine Wheel. Still lost? I'll admit that the only reason I know who he is is because of all the boys in my life. My husband, brothers-in-law, brother and nephew are all very sophisticated and hip when it comes to music. I listen to whatever they tell me to listen to. They haven't steered me wrong yet. I was young and hip once myself. At one time I was the one on the cutting edge of what was cool. No more. I'm OK with it. There I go getting off the subject again.

Christopher(I know that's not the most flattering picture, but as I searched my pictures for a good one to show I realized that there isn't one that he isn't making a silly face in. Boys.) has always been a really big fan. Catherine Wheel has been one of his favorites from the moment he heard them. (He still remembers when he first heard them. Ask him. He'll tell you the story.) Can you imagine? Being in a band and good at and interested in everything music and they say to you, "You get to open up for the lead singer of one of your most favorite bands of all time." He was so excited about it. So that's it. Wow! Dream fulfilled right? I'm not done. Chris knows the owner of the place where they were playing. Long story short, he got to be the one to pick up Rob Dickinson from the airport. Amazing, one on one time with one of your idles. Even bigger dream fulfilled right? Still not done. We're listening to Rob Dickinson play. He really was incredible. He's almost done with his set and he says, (be sure to say this with an English accent) "Where's my friend Chris? Do you have an instrument available to you? Do you want to come up and play Black Metallic(their first hit in the U.S.) with me?" It was so exciting and so much fun and we were so proud. It couldn't have happened to a better person. Chris is a great brother and uncle. My kids adore him. It was really fun watching one of his dreams come true.
You can watch it here.
Here are some of my favorite Catherine Wheel songs if you're interested.

rock concert!
Sara came over to play the other night. That usually means that at some point they will play with her make-up. I love it! They have so much fun!
This was the conversation we had in the car after we took her home.
Larkin: We had a rock concert tonight Mom and we got like 1,039 Woo's and that's how many people were there.
Me: 1,039 what?
Lilly: Woo's. You know like, "Woo Hoo!"
Larkin: Ya, so you know everyone thought it was cool.

Happy Day!
Lilly's first words of the day:
I'M SO EXCITED!
That about sums it up. My parents are coming home today! I don't know how we survived without them.

-When you speak you replace all of the F's with P's.

Mom, be very carepul.
-The only way you know how to argue is to put "I don't want" in front of whatever the other person just said.
Oscar, stop doing that. I don't want doing that.
Oscar, let's wash your hands. I don't want wash your hands.
Oscar, can you eat your food please? I don't want eat your food please.
-You enjoy anything electronic with buttons to push.
-You ask your dad, "Are you OK Dad?" when ever he burps.
And last but not least. Raise your hand if ...
-You can keep playing a video game all the way through getting your diaper changed.

Oscar in the morning
Oscar is usually very happy when he wakes up. He comes and gives me "wubs". The look he has on his face is the same look he gets when he gets out of his bed before he's supposed to. It's like he thinks he's cheating or getting a special treat by getting to get out of bed.
This morning was no different. We were in the kitchen. I was holding him and we were giving hugs and kisses, aka-wubs(loves). I pushed our cheeks together and looked in the mirror with him. Then Oscar said to his reflection:
"Hi,this is my mommy."

Larkin: I love you too Dad.
Now in the the kitchen.
Larkin: Hi Mom. I just told Dad I love him too.
Me: Oh, good!
Larkin: I love you Mom.
Me: I love you too Lark.
Larkin: I just love everybody!
Me: I love everybody too.
Larkin: Mom, don't copy me.

Trav Master Flash
When Blake and I started having kids Travis just loved Lilly. I can still think of his sweet little voice, "How's LLLLLLLilly doin'?" Every time I saw him. He did the same thing when Larkin and Oscar were born. He loves babies and is so sweet with them.
He and Oscar have a special relationship. Travy is one of our best baby sitters. I remember the first night he and Emma came to babysit. Oscar got a diaper rash and had a ruff time. When we got home Oscar was crying and Travis was trying to comfort him. I quickly took over and Trav went into the other room by himself and was really upset. I put Oscar in the tub and let Travis come in and help give him a bath.
Church with a two year old is always challenging. But I can always distract Oscar with watching his cousin Trav. It's nice because he will sit still but sometimes he forgets to whisper.
"Where's Trav?"
"There he is."
"Hi, Travis!"
"Trav is bringing the bread."
"Travis has the water."
I love to see Travy's face trying not to smile.
When sacrament meeting is over, most of the time, he comes over and offers to take Oscar to Nursery for me. Plus he's usually already holding hands with another kid that needs to get dropped off at nursery too.
When ever I see Travis he asks where Oscar is. He is genuinely disappointed if I don't have him with me.
Thanks Travis for being such a good cousin.
Thanks also for being a good nephew. I love to read and watch movies with you.
Love you,
Aunt Nelly

Check this out!

This is Janelle! To know her is to love her. Seriously. She's crazy and fun and adventurous and smart and successful and down to earth all at the same time. I feel cool that I get to say that she was one of my very beloved college roommates. We grew up in the same ward and went through high school together.
She's started an adventure. I'm having so much fun reading about it. I thought that some of you would have fun reading it too. She's going on 31 dates in 31 days. I forgot to list brave when I was describing her. Anyway check out her website and leave her a message. She deserves as much support as we can give her.
Fun with 31

Lilly Kay's Birthday!
I can't believe my sweet girl is 9.
It seems like just last year she got the peanut butter off the counter and smeared it all over herself, the kitchen floor, the living room carpet, and the TV.
And just before that I couldn't take my eyes off of her or I would find her in the back yard rolling in the mud.
Happy Birthday Beauty! You make life more fun!
